Healthy Diet Food: Turkey Breast Wrap

Image
50 g Turkey Breast Meat [7079] 1 Whole Wheat Tortilla salt and black pepper, optional 4 leaves Romaine lettuce ⅛ Avocado 1/4 Onion, sliced 3 Cherry Tomatoes 5 g honey mustard sauce This is what we had for lunch. My husband was pretty enthusiastic making this for me seeing that I am so much into getting back in shape. He went home last night, bringing me some pansit (chinese noodles) and lechon (roast pig), placed it in the freezer for us to have it for lunch, but he served me this instead. :) AND it's only 251 calories! Unfortunately I was pretty hungry and gobbled this up before I can snap a photo of what it looked liked. Next time, I'll have my camera phones ready.

A New Challenge

Image
Wow, I can't believe that it has been awhile since I last posted an entry here. During the past couple of weeks I have been breaking my fast and it is much more difficult that fasting. I am taking eating in slow-mo, making sure that I chew really well, and have limited my food to more greens and veggies. Only recently I have started eating lean meat. Somehow, there's that scary feeling that I migh nd up in the hospital if I go back to my old eating habits. Prior to this, I was eating mostly Italian and Spanish food - who could resist those heavy sauces and cheese? :D Anywho, since then I have kept my weight off, I had my cholesterol checked and from 5.71, I had it down to 4.2 which is now in the healthy range. Hopefully I can work it down to 2 something with my new activities and eating habits. Speaking of activities, I am now back on the elliptical (and the cardio feels great!), and have embarked on a new challenge. I have recently signed up for Barre3 's 28 to Great ...

The End and The Beginning

I have decided to break my fast on Day 11 and not go for the 15 days I originally planned for. The sole reason of doing this is I am hungry for exercise. It's a bit weird that after 10 days I seem to eat a LOT slower. It's like I am activating my jaw muscles all over again, practicing chewing and well... after a cup full of greens, I got soooo full that I had to wait a couple of hours more to eat my fruit. I loaded the refrigerator with salad and got myself some bottles of fruit vinaigrette. I liked those pre packed salad wherein you just have to toss the greens and you got yourself a meal. Those salad kits with add-ons are awesome! They're good for a couple of meals, so I consume one tray a day. Some come with sprouts, nuts and fruits. This means I don't have to buy fruits and nuts to add on to my greens. Most of them end up forgotten and left to spoil. For those breaking their fast, please eat only fresh fruit and veggies. :) I was honestly afraid to eat after ...

Summer Reboot: Day 10 of Juicing

Yay! I'm here at day 10. Couldn't believe it myself. Still thinking if I should continue for 5 more days or stop now. But as soon as I get out of here, I'm gonna start the Barre3 28 to Great challenge. Can't wait, maybe it's 5 days from now, or maybe it's gonna be tomorrow. Gonna start to prepare for it though. Have my grocery list, allot some space in my refrigerator, and re-arrange the family room for my daily exercise routine. Oh, and I gotta clean my elliptical too. ;) How did I get to go this far? Well I had loads of support from my hubby and every time I'm tempted, I just look at before and after pics, read success stories, watch Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead by Joe Cross (this documentary was the main reason I jumped into this challenge, and I recommend watching that to anyone who wants to start anew, detox, and load up on health food, I mean juice.) So let's see, I feel really great right now and I can't wait to embark on a new challenge for a ...

Summer Reboot: Day 9 of Juicing

I don't think I have ever seen Kale around here. While I kept hearing from a friend of mine in Cork that it's just everywhere including her backyard. I would have loved to taste Kale juice. Today is my 9th day and I am 9 lbs lighter from the day I started. I seriously am contemplating if I should stop the day after tomorrow or continue for 5 days more. The reason behind this is I miss exercising very badly. I miss running and walking at night. My elliptical has started to gather dust, and my brand new weights have not been used. Yesterday I took pictures of myself for a 'before and after' comparison, and it was horrible to find out that I don't have a single muscle! Everywhere was flab. Hehehe. I look like I have just given birth even if this was one a half years ago. Well, I gotta do something about that, 2 days from now or 7 days from now.

Summer Reboot: Day 8 of Juicing

Halfway point! Yaaaay!!!! Everything is manageable now. Yesterday we went to a children's party and food was all over the place! I wasn't tempted much and everything turned out ok. There were some other couple of things I noticed recently, my skin is now clear and it hasn't been this way for a very long time now. I also noticed that my clothes looked better on me. Yesterday I wore a shirt that didn't fit me a couple of months ago. The feeling of being bloat is also gone! :) My weight may plateau soon, so I'm thinking I need to have those arduous Barre3 workouts to help boost my metabolism. I'm really addicted! It's the best so far! :) Today I weigh about 55.2 kilograms or about 121 lbs. Those last ten pounds are the most difficult to shed off I've heard. I'm happy with 55 but I'm just thinking that maybe I need to lose a couple more, because when I go back to eating I know I'll gain some of the weight back.

Summer Reboot: Day 5 of Juicing

Lost half a kilogram today, I have another 5 kgs (11 lbs) to go. Hopefully I don't go into a plateau soon, but I look better in my clothes now, I realized I lost some belly fat. Found a trick to manage the hunger, use a girdle. ;) This morning, I did another 10-min killer Barre3 workout to boost my metabolism. I'm telling you, juicing and Barre3 are so addicting! I plan to sign up for their 28 to Great Challenge when I'm done with the reboot, I think it's a great way to keep the weight off, plus I really love those long and lean look the ballerinas and gymnasts have.

Post IVF: My Frozen Embryos

It's that time of the year when I get the annual bill for my frozen embryos. Every year, I had to pay roughly around 400Dollars for the storage fees. I have heard from some that many of those who were successful on their first try opted to donate or not to have the embryos implanted. My hubby and I were discussing it and some questions were raised. Was it possible to freeze the eggs and sperms separately? What will happen to the embryos if we decide not to have them implanted? How will we feel if we donate them? Truth be told, I am trying my best to get in the best shape so I can have maybe one or two more kids. Having them will trigger a lot of changes to everyone in the household and will also have a huge impact on our finances. I'm giving ourselves two years to prepare. Hope the best is on our side! ;)

Summer Reboot: Day 4 of Juicing

Lost another kg today, but wasn't able to take a pic since my phone was dead. Started the day with wheatgrass juice and ending it with coconut water. What a treat! Not too crazy about the wheatgrass though, I really had to take it since it's very packed with nutrients. Also did a 10-min Barre3 killer workout and that was enough to make me shout! :D

Summer Reboot: Day 3

Image
Day 3, Yay!!! No more headaches no more hunger pangs. I am able to manage my hunger by drinking water and juice alternately every hour. I lost another kilogram, bringing down my weight to 57kgs. I also started this day with my favorite juice which consisted of apples, carrots and oranges. :) Cheers!

Summer Reboot: Day 2

Image
I have successfully completed Day 1. And to be honest, it wasn't easy. Cooking and feeding my toddlers make it more difficult since I had to handle the food. I also had to cook for my hubby our favorite dish and it took a lot of will power not to even taste the meat. Now on my second day, I had headaches and hunger pangs. But I am ok, this in spite of all the household chores, errands and work I had to do. The day is almost over but I am delighted to see that I have actually lost 1 kilogram on my first day of juicing! Yay! :) I can do this!

Summer Reboot

Summer is a lot like Christmas Season. You go on family trips, gluttonize on native delicacies and make you forget on your promise to be mindful of your eating. But there's more than that, it has been a year and a half after I have given birth to my wonderful twins, and I have managed to trim down about 5kgs since then. Now at my age, there seems to be more things to be worried about apart from my waistline A couple of months ago I’ve had on and off chest pains and my blood tests revealed that I’ve had high cholesterol levels. I managed to stay off pork and beef for about a month and got my cholesterol levels back in the normal range. However, we had a couple of trips and well, I think I ate too much. I had my eye opener yesterday went I went for a stroll at the mall, and found the sleeves of my favorite shirt a bit too tight around my arms. And so, here I am, about to embark on my 15-day journey of juicing. Some call this a reboot. Yes, I will reboot. With the goals of weight l...

First

It has been awhile since I last posted an entry. A lot has happened in the last 2 years - retired from work, returned to my homeland, went through the IVF process, gave birth to super twins, had their baptism, their first birthday... all that and more of milestones. Now I have decided to start all over again. By giving the children their me time, I get to have some time on my hands too. Now it's time to be more productive. :)
